Biddy Basketball Rules

1. All games consist of four (4) six minute quarters. The official clock will be stopped for all violations.

2. Each Team is allowed to call two (2) 30-second time-outs per half.

3. Coaches may substitute during “dead ball” times when the clock is stopped. The players must check in at the scoring table and wait for the referee to signal them in prior to entering the game.

4. At the end of regulation play, if the score is tied, a two (2) minute overtime period will be added. Additional two (2) minute extensions will be added until a winner is determined.

5. Each player is allowed four (4) personal fouls. At the occurrence of the fifth foul, the player will be disqualified for the remainder of the game.

6. The occurrence of each personal foul results in a team foul. The first four (4) team fouls will be possession fouls. On the occurrence of the fifth, and following, team foul, the player who was fouled will shoot a 1-and-1 at the foul line. If the player was fouled in the act of shooting, he will be awarded two (2) foul shots.

7. Back court violations - after crossing the half-court line, a violation will be called if the offensive possession crosses back over their own foul line (extended).

8. When the defensive team has gained control of the ball, the opposing team must go back to assume their defensive positions. The defensive team may not pick up on the ball until it has crossed half-court. Once the ball has crossed the half-court line, the defensive team will be allowed to access the back court area.

9. No offensive player will be allowed in the key for five (5) seconds or longer or a violation will be called.

10. The cables crossing the gym (in front of the baskets) are in play, and are considered as touching another player. The ceiling and the Biddy brackets are out of play.

11. A jump ball will be called when a player of each team has control of the ball at the same time. A violation will be called if two (2) players on the same team have control of the ball at the same time.

12. Most other regular rules of basketball will be enforced: double-dribble, traveling, ten (10) seconds, etc.
