EPSOM BIBLE CHURCH
SHORT TERM MISSIONS POLICIES

The Short-Term Missions Policies will primarily apply, though not exclusively, to summer missions. The applicant for short-term missions must meet the following criteria:

1.  Be a member of the Epsom Bible Church (EBC) and at least fifteen (15) years of age;

2.  Must complete an EBC Missions Application;

3.  Must be (or have been) actively involved in a ministry of EBC (i.e. Sunday School, AWANA, Youth ministry, etc.);

4.  Submit a letter of recommendation from an EBC staff member (i.e. S.S. teacher, AWANA leader) to the Deacon of Missions;

5.  Be recognized by the church leadership as meeting the spirit of the qualifications of a deacon in 1 Timothy 3:8-13;

6.  Have parental approval (if still living at home);

7.  Must display a genuine interest in missions;

8.  Be able to perform the ministry required of the sending organization (the sending organization must be in agreement with the doctrinal statement of EBC);

9.  Be willing to participate in any required training before leaving for the field;

10.  Be willing to raise personal support;

11.  Must display a willingness to function as a team member;

12.  Complete a written application to the church leadership at least three months prior to departure to the field;

Following the completion of field ministry, present a detailed field report to the Deacon of Missions and members of church leadership. Applicant may asked to give an oral presentation before the church body.

The annual dollar amount budgeted for short-term missions will be disbursed at the discretion of the church leadership. As a general rule, the sum given to an approved applicant will not exceed twenty-five percent (25%) of the total amount budgeted, so as to allow funds for applicants who may apply later during the year.

Funds should be disbursed directly to the sending organization. Any financial support from EBC will not be disbursed until the applicant has raised the balance needed.

The church leadership shall have the privilege to waive certain of these criteria due to unusual circumstances. If any of the listed criteria are not met, a detailed explanation should be provided to church leadership.
